ATOS Trio: Mendelssohn

Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy - Piano Trio no.1 in d-minor, op.49 (1839/40) Composed in 1839 and revised several times until its final form being published in 1840, this dramatic and brilliant, yet utterly personal work immediately became wildly popular (though at first only in Leipzig, only later in Paris or London) and still to this day overshadows its equally genius sister-piece, the c-minor trio op.66.

ATOS Trio: Haydn

Joseph Haydn (1732-1809) - Piano Trio in A-Major, Hob.XV:18 (1794/95) Written in London, where Haydn was very impressed by the sound and possibilities of the modern Broadwood pianos. A wonderfully balanced and lyrical opening movement is followed by an introverted Andante (with strong similiarities to Mozart´s KV511), and a highly spirited dance, a sort of "Hungarian Polonaise"
